Most of us are creatures of habit and one of the simplest habits I love to partake in every morning is waking up. Today is somewhat of a milestone for me because it's my 60th birthday. It's just another day, I know that, but for some reason I just feel that from here on in, I can be allowed my senior moments. I won't feel as bad anymore when I'm standing in the cellar with a dumb look on my face and wondering why I went down there in the first place. One of the things I do every day to keep my body sharp and my wits somewhat intact is to get up and take the dogs for a nice little walk. The fresh air kicks starts my mind for the day. And then, to give me further fuel for thought I pick up the local newspaper on the corner. Take for instance, these three bold local headlines in the police and court section of the paper: Pizza deliveryman robbed, then thanked; Man robbed of a bag holding $875, his teeth & Man accused of using pick up truck as weapon. I don't know about you, but when I looked at those this morning, I wondered if I was still asleep. But, it's that feeling of absurdity that I love the most. It reminds me that there's a thin line between being awake and being asleep. However, the true test of my wakefulness is the daily Jumble game. If I can unscramble those four words and then figure out the surprise answer on the bottom, I feel I can present myself coherently to anyone who crosses my path that day. What was interesting about the Jumble today was the scrambled first word. I won't give you the answer, but I will give you a hint. Coincidence. I don't much believe coincidences carry some hidden meanings nor do I believe in horoscope all that much. But like the headlines, coincidences and horoscope predictions should be used soley for fun and entertainment. And as long as my heart was kind enough to allow me to get up this fine morning, I'm going to continue to heed its message. Get up, walk and take things in stride.

Happy Birthday, Maze! You will be ahead of the pack for many years to come with your writing, blogging, photography - and Jumble :)
Hugs,

Tom: Happy Birthday! My apologies - though your birthday and mine are so close together, and we reach milestones at the same time, I have you down as March 10, not March 8. Oh, well. Must be age catching up with me. I'll be 50 in 11 days. BTW, Vicky knows she can't have the crossword until I do the Jumble. What a nice coincidence on that first word. Let's see what turns up on my birthday.
All my best Maze. Happy Birthday to you.
Happy Birthday!!! :)
According to my guide (Secret Language of Birthdays, which is one of my favorite toys) you were born on “the Day of Nonconformity” (that fits, doesn't it?). Some of what it says:
Those often misunderstood individuals born on March 8 must do things their own way. Whether in their outlook, lifestyle, manner of expression or personal appearance, they are at heart nonconformists who often find themselves at odds with the status quo. Although they may be lovers of tradition, and perhaps express reverence for cultures past, March 8 people need to break away, sometimes violently, sometimes sorrowfully, from their backgrounds in order to become individuals in their own right. Because of their critical, emotionally difficult natures, making this break themselves is often not necessary, as they may well be rejected first. But however it comes to pass, by the time they are in their late teens or ealry twenties they have sufficiently realized that their life is likely to be stormy and their path perhaps lonely.
March 8 people have a zest for life, Yet try as they may their lifestyle or ideas rarely find sympathy with the majority of people around them. This is in part due to their intensity, and also because their point of view is so often uncompromising, highly individualistic and perhaps challenging to social values. –Goes on to say March 8 people are iconoclasts, rebellious… ah, here we go. They are loyal friends, too.
It says that your strengths are “Individual, Magnetic, Intuitive” and your weaknesses are “Isolated, Emotionally Difficult, Upsetting.” Your meditation (thing that it would help you to think about) is: “The power is there–we only have to plug into it.”
Wishing you a happy and productive year to plug into the power of your loves, your strengths and your dreams,
Martha
